The other day was my birthday, and pretty busy one. I decided now would be a good time to update this blog, since I haven't updated here since last June. I'm not really much for posting about my life, and I really haven't had much to update. Since my last update, I've gotten a new job, teaching again, and it's taken up a lot my time and energy. Not a bad thing, but indicates I haven't had much to really update here. Really, if you wanted to learn more about me, you'd do better to follow my Tumblr accounts: Organized Chaos ("personal" and random content blog) and Random Marks (the art blog). Both are updated pretty frequently, and more so than my DA gallery and my Blogspot gallery (although I do update there for more detailed art posts).

I'll probably craft a generalized about me post and sticky it in a few days. If I do have big things happening related to my art and writing, I'll try to post it here as well as on my other locations.

About time to update this journal. Summer's starting, which mostly means hot weather and swimming for me. (Hey, I'm an adult in the so-called "real world.")

I've been pretty quiet over here, not too many updates to the gallery. But there are a few things going on over at Club-Tutu, and I've gotten into some fandoms, so there's the chance for fan related stuff, and some original things.

Wow. High time I bumped that last journal off the front page. I really should make it a scheduled thing to update this once a month, but I tend to put things off because I tend not to have much to report. Anyway, here's what's been up.

First, yesterday was my birthday. I'm now 31, although I feel like I'm still something like 25 or something mentally. Didn't do too much, just a nice dinner with my family. Thanks so much for the birthday wishes.

Second, I've been doing rather well with a challenge for the year, which is to draw a monthly themed item everyday for all of 2012. Admittedly, I'll already sort of failed in that I've missed days, but I'm still going at it, working at drawing something no matter how quick and lousy each day. I was doing all right with posting for the first couple of months, but I really need to do some art dumps for the last few months. It's been a difficult challenge, but a learning experience. I plan on getting new tablet in the next few months. It won't have big effect on the quality, but I think it's time to see about getting a new one. The current pen is getting pretty worn out, and because it's the old Graphire, Wacom no longer produces the part (or it's out of stock and I have no idea if they'll get new ones), so time to move to the new model. Currently weighing my options and my budget for a Bamboo Create or an Intuos small or medium. I have gotten a new lightpad by Arograph, a nice large one that'll be nice for larger pieces.

Other than that, mostly work. Time to start working on costumes for Dragon*Con, and I'll try to share my progress here for the props.

It's been a long time since I last updated, huh? A bit of a drought.

Good news is I have new full time job, and I started it a few weeks ago. That's one worry I don't have to fret about so much any more. It's taking advantage of my editing background. A bit routine, but I like the challenge.

Another good thing is next week is Dragon*Con! Yes! I'll be meeting up with friends and hope to have some fun. Let me know if you're going. We may luck up and meet up. I don't have too much planned, only a few things set in stone. I will be at the Birds of Prey photoshoot on Friday, the DC photoshoot on Saturday, and walking around with my friends briefly as Leena in our Warehouse 13 group cosplay. There's definite interest in checking out some of the Eureka and Warehouse 13 panels. Otherwise, it's very open.
